Andros Island, July 2018.
Unquenched need to work – as if I’m gulping sea water.
My thirst meets the salt, the water flow and the broken
shells. Salted is my first series, born out of the instinct,
washed onshore by the tide.
Ceramic pieces made with salted water from the seashores
of Andros island. Repeated organic patterns flow freely to
form textures and living shapes, as if they are shells
portraying a whirl of liberty that’s only residing by the sea.
A reflection of the fragile shells and forms sculpted by the
waves, Salted is molded by what can be found onshore:
the golden section between nature’s rules and its raw
spontaneity.
Salted started as a series and grew to an idea, tracing
inspiration back to water. Water from various places serves
as the raw material to create pieces that connect the energy
of each site to my experiences there, stories flowing freely
into ceramic matter.
